Al-Sorag protects Amman UN HQ in $1.5m contract

Al-Sorag’s scratch-proof safety films retain their transparency for years, while protecting against ultraviolet radiation.

Al-Sorag has developed transparent anti-burglary and anti-blast reinforced sheets made from steel-framed plastic sheets. The company recently completed armoring the UN headquarters in Amman, Jordan in a $1.5 million contract.

Al-Sorag is now carrying out a €1.1 million project for a major communications company in The Hague, and completed a $600,000 project for the Singapore government. The company has carried out projects in Israel and overseas, including embassies, a wireless operator, Israeli and foreign banks, government offices, Israel Railways and foreign railway companies, Israeli communities surrounding the Gaza Strip, schools and kindergartens. It also built a wall in Israel’s Supreme Court building used by the Orr committee to block the audience’s access to the witness stand.

Al-Sorag’s scratch-proof safety films retain their transparency for years, while protecting against ultraviolet radiation. The sheets contain hidden steel elements that absorb shock waves, and which the company claims are also burglar-proof.

Al-Sorag says that its safety films are suitable for terminals, buildings, and embassies in Israel and abroad, and that they can withstand shock waves from external or internal explosions. The company plans to shortly begin marketing its safety films for private homes.

In a test conducted a year ago, the safety film withstood the detonation of 830 tons of TNT 40 meters away.

Erez Paz owns 90% of the company and Kibbutz Hanita owns the rest.
