Green pesticide co BotanoCap raises $1m from BHCO

BotanoCap has developed proprietary technology for preparing microcapsules of essential oils and their application in products.

Sources inform ''Globes'' that BHCO has invested $1 million in green pesticide start-up BotanoCap Ltd. for a 15% stake in the company. Ashkelon Technological Industries (ATI) CEO David Wazana confirmed the report, and added that BHCO is a group of Israeli and European investors, headed by Uriel Richard, that invests in seed-stage start-ups. He said that BHCO relies on a very broad marketing orientation among US and European manufacturers and investment funds.

BotanoCap has raised a large amount of capital for a seed-stage cleantech start-up. Until now, Israeli investors have mostly only talked about investment in the sector, with little practical follow-up, especially for such an early-stage company.

BotanoCap has developed proprietary technology for preparing microcapsules of essential oils and their application in a broad range of products, including pesticides for crops, veterinary uses for cows and pets, fumigating homes and offices, a mosquito pesticide and larvicide, extending the shelf life of agricultural products, and improving the nutritional value of food for people and livestock, such as Omega 3 fatty acids.
