Expand Networks deploys system with US Treasury Dept

The company has deployed its systems at 120 locations in the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

IT optimization solutions company Expand Networks Ltd. has completed the deployment of its Expand Accelerator Operating System at 120 locations in the US Department of the Treasury's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). The company said that the OCC had concluded that network performance limitations caused by consolidation and the implementation of a distributed application would not be mitigated by bandwidth upgrades and chose the Expand system after considering alternative systems from Riverbed Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBI), and Juniper Networks (Nasdaq: JNPR).

Expand VP public sector & satellite markets Howard Teicher said, “The deployment of Expand Networks accelerators ensures agency compliance with Federal security mandates while enhancing the ability of the OCC to fulfill its mission while saving taxpayer resources.”

Expand was founded in 1998. The company has raised funds from investors such as Tamir Fishman Venture Capital (TASE: TFVC), Discount Investment Corporation (TASE: DISI), Challenge Fund - Etgar, and Vertex Venture Capital. The company was recently ranked in the Gartner’s Leaders Quadrant for WAN Optimization Controllers in 2006. The Magic Quadrant is a graphical representation of a marketplace at and for a specific time period. It depicts Gartner's analysis of how certain vendors measure against criteria for that marketplace.
