ActiViews raises $5m

The company is developing a guidance system for PETs and MRIs.

Israeli medical device start-up ActiViews Ltd. has raised $5 million in an investment round led by Ofer Hi Tech Ltd. and Evergreen Venture Partners. The company is developing an interventional radiology guidance system.

The company's systems improve real-time guidance for computer tomography scanners (PET) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) devices for locating tumors for biopsies or removal. Currently, PETs and MRIs images are performed as slices and the images analyzed for subsequent invasive procedures. The images are costly, and their radiation can harm patients. ActiViews's method reduces the number of images needed.

ActiViews CEO Pinchas Gilboa founded the company in 2006.
