News Corp. unit selects SintecMedia system

STAR Group broadcasts over 60 channels in ten languages to 53 countries across Asia.

STAR Group Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of News Corporation, has selected Jerusalem-based SintecMedia's OnAir to manage its broadcast operations. STAR broadcasts over 60 channels in ten languages to 53 countries across Asia and beyond.

The value of the deal was not disclosed.

OnAir will serve hundreds of users in one of the largest network-wide deployments, supporting local languages, multi-currency, multi time-zone, programming, promotion, inventory, tape quality control, sales and billing - all in one system. SintecMedia is working with Siemens Information Systems to implement the system.

OnAir includes a sales module to manage STAR's complex sale structure and a variety of sales models in which airtime and advertising playtimes vary in accordance to regional needs.

Amir Lavi, Vice President of Sales APAC at SintecMedia said, "With the addition of STAR to SintecMedia's distinguished customer base, OnAir now manages broadcasting operations reaching over 60 percent of India's TV market. We believe that APAC markets represent an important element in our growth and look forward to moving forward in this dynamic region."

According to IVC, SintecMedia, managed by Amotz Yarden, has raised $24.5 million in three financing rounds, the latest in April 2006 at a pre-valuation of $39.6 million. Investors in the company include Ascend Technology, Sequoia Capital, Shamrock Holdings, Walden Israel Ventures, Globescom Ltd., Kardan Technologies Ltd., and Roni Einav.
