The US venture capital fund is active in Israel and has invested in local firms since 1998.
US technology venture capital fund Lightspeed Ventures has closed its eighth fund on $800 million. Lightspeed originally aimed to raise $675 million but closed the fund on a higher sum after it was oversubscribed. Lightspeed manages $2 billion and invests in the US, Israel and India.
Lightspeed has invested in more than 150 companies to date, including Brocade Communications Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: BRCD), DoubleClick Inc., Informatica Corp. (Nasdaq: INFA), Flixter Inc., Riverbed Technology Inc. (Nasdaq: RVBD), and others.
LightSpeed managing director Yoni Cheifetz said, "Lightspeed has been investing throughout the world for more than a decade, and we hope to continue investing substantial capital in Israel, given the large number of quality start-ups here."
