Brainsway to run trial at Pittsburgh VA hospital

Veterans Administration's Dr. Steven Forman will be the chief researcher.

Brainsway Ltd. (TASE:BRIN) will conduct a human clinical trial for its Deep TMS transcranial magnetic stimulation device at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, a Department of Veterans Administration research center.

The Veterans Administration will conduct and finance the trial to test the effectiveness of the Deep TMS device on patients suffering from obesity. The chief researcher will be Dr. Steven Forman. The trial will include 56 subjects, half of whom will be treated with the Deep TMS device, and the other half will undergo a sham trial. The subjects will be monitored by MRI scans to analyze their responses to the treatment.

The Veterans Administration trial is part of Brainsway's strategy to test the positive and medical effects of the Deep TMS device on a range of illnesses in addition to the illnesses for which the company is already undergoing human clinical trials: depression, manic-depression, and schizophrenia.
