Ameriprise sells Amdocs, Check Point shares

Ameriprise sold its shares in Amdocs in the final weeks of 2009, reducing its stake in the company from 6.4% to 5.9% at the end of the year.

US financial firm Ameriprise Financial Inc. has sold 1.7 million shares in Amdocs Ltd. (NYSE: DOX) and 2.3 million Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) shares, the companies stated in reports to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Ameriprise sold its shares in Amdocs in the final weeks of 2009, reducing its stake in the company from 6.4% to 5.9% at the end of the year. Ameriprise sold its shares in Check Point throughout 2009, reducing its holding in the company to 5.6% at the end of the year from 6.7% at the end of 2008.

Ameriprise's current stake in Amdocs is worth $334 million, and its stake in Check Point is worth $385 million.

Check Point chairman and CEO Gil Shwed also sold some of his shares in the company during 2009, reducing his stake from 15.6% at the end of 2008 to 15.1% - 32.7 million shares - at the end of 2009.

Friess Associates LLC, which manages Brandywine Funds, liquidated its 5.6% stake in Check Point during 2009.

Amdocs' share fell 0.5% on Friday on Nasdaq to $28.86, giving a market cap of $5.93 billion. Check Point's share fell 0.6% to $32.74, giving a market cap of $6.85 billion.
