Netanyahu to Clinton: We won't apologize to Turkey

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is waiting for the UN's Palmer Report on the incident, which is due to be published next week.

“IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Israel would not apologize to Turkey over the Mavi Marmara incident during the Gaza flotilla in May 2010.

The US has asked Israel to apologize for the deaths of the nine Turkish IHH activists on the Mavi Marmara. The US is seeking closer ties with Turkey to help create a united front against Syrian President Bashar Assad as he continues to violently suppress demonstrations against his regime.

Netanyahu rejected the US request, and is waiting for the UN's Palmer Report on the incident, which is due to be published next week.
