Golan Telecom receives mobile carrier license

The new cellular operator expects to commence selling services in the second half of 2012.

Golan Telecom today received its mobile carrier network license from the Ministry of Communications. The details of the license were completed over the past few days and today Minister of Communications Moshe Kahlon was scheduled to award the license to the company during a modest ceremony in his office.

Mirs, the other of Israel's two new cellular operators was awarded its license several weeks ago and now Golan Telecom becomes Israel's fifth mobile network operators.

Receiving the license is purely a formality. The company has already set up its network and recently signed a cooperation agreement with Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL).

Golan Telecom is owned by Michael Golan, Xavier Niel and the Parienti family. The company expects to commence selling services in the second half of 2012.
