HP wins IDF servers tender

The tender is worth NIS 500 million, making it the largest ever in Israel.

HP Israel Ltd. has won Israel's largest ever servers tender, worth an estimated NIS 500 million. Under the Ministry of Defense tender, the company will manage the ministry and IDF's server farms for five years. HP Israel will replace IBM Israel Ltd., which has maintained the defense establishment's server farms for the past several years.

HP Israel said that the Ministry of Defense's decision reflected its confidence in the company's products and ability to provide good, thorough service. "This is a leading strategic tender for HP, and has great importance," said HP Israel CEO Joshua Bakola. "This win will strengthen our position as the leading technology company in Israel, and I have no doubt that that it will represent a real partnership in which we are committed to provide the client with the best solution for it over the next five years, and possibly beyond."

HP Israel said that the tender process took a year.

A Ministry of Defense source said that HP Israel would supply $22 million worth of servers a year, and that the franchise period was for three years, with an option to extend by two more years.

HP Israel plans to hire more staff ahead of expanding its activity at Ministry of Defense units.
