ECI rehires chairman Rafi Maor as CEO

CEO Shimon Bart has left the company after just eight months in the job.

ECI Telecom Ltd. CEO Shimon Bart has left the company after eight months in the job, and chairman Rafi Maor, who served as CEO until June 2011, will replace him.

Russian media reports claim that ECI is in talks to sell most of its activity to RussAtom. However, ECI give a different reason for Bart's departure. It stated in response, "CEO Shimon Bart asked to leave for personal reasons. Chairman and former CEO Rafi Maor will succeed him for the coming period."

ECI has been trying to keep Maor out of the spotlight ever since Swarth Group, controlled by Shani and Britain's Ashmore Investment Management Ltd. (LSE: ASHM), acquired ECI in 2007 for $1.24 billion.
