Intel, GE Healthcare set up joint Israel tech center

The companies will combine Intel's microprocessors and GE Healthcare's ultrasound diagnostic imaging systems.

Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) and GE Healthcare have set up a joint technology evaluation laboratory in Israel. The new lab is located at GE Healthcare premises in Tirat Carmel, close to Intel Israel's R&D center at Haifa's Matam High-Tech Park.

Managers and employees from both companies will work together to align and optimize their products, such as Intel's microprocessors and GE Healthcare's ultrasound diagnostic imaging systems.

Intel Intelligent Systems Group general manager Michelle Tinsley said, "The long term objective of this collaboration is to scale these activities to other GE product areas and use the lab as a worldwide hub for all Intel technologies and expertise. As leaders in our respective industries, Intel and GE Healthcare aim to bring truly innovative technologies to the medical imaging industry."

GE Healthcare CTO Mike Harsh said, "This is an exciting collaboration between two global companies who are industry leaders in technology innovation. The hope is that this partnership between GE and Intel will lead to the development of affordable and advanced healthcare technologies that ultimately will bring better healthcare to more people around the world."
