Cellcom offers GetTaxi app

Cellcom has also decided to forego its Click for a Taxi app, after 18 months, as it cannot support new Android 4.0-based Galaxy S2 smartphones.

Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) has selected the GetTaxi Ltd. as an embedded app for new Android 4.0 smartphones. Cellcom has also decided to forego its Click for a Taxi app, after 18 months, even though it developed the app itself, because it has signed a deal with GetTaxi.

The Click for a Taxi app, jointly developed by Logia Group Ltd. and Monitex Ltd., was available for users of all the mobile carriers, and can be downloaded at Apple App and Android stores.

GetTaxi Israel managing director Motti Hasafri said, "We are working hard to make the application the preferred choice of every user, including by collaborating with the mobile carriers."

Cellcom said in response, "The Click for a Taxi app is still available and is regularly used by thousands of subscribers." As for the decision to replace it with Get Taxi, the carrier said this was the result of an advertising deal with Get Taxi.
