Better Place completes battery exchange network

Better Place: Our customers can save more than NIS 150 driving to Eilat by electric car.

Tomorrow, Better Place Inc. will inaugurate its battery replacement station at Kibbutz Eilot in the Arava, completing the company's battery replacement network to enable travel by electric car to Eilat. Better Place CEO Moshe Kaplinsky and Eilat Mayor Meir Yitzhak-Halevy will inaugurate the station.

"At today's prices, the average cost of driving from central Israel to Eilat and back is NIS 540. But Better Place's customers can save more than NIS 150 driving to Eilat by electric car," said Better Place in a statement

In the south, Better Place already has battery replacement stations at Kastina Junction, Kiryat Gat, Beersheva, Arad, Dimona, and at Moshav Sapir and Kibbutz Yotvata in the Arava. The company plans to have 40 stations from Metulla in the Upper Galilee to Eilat, with an average distance of 40 kilometers between stations. The automatic battery replacement time is five minutes.

"This is a milestone for the company, and especially for our first customers, who were partners in the vision, and can now drive to any destination in the country, at any distance, and have battery replacement stations at their service in every area," said Kaplinsky. "With the breakthrough to Eilat and the completion of the deployment of scores of stations nationwide, we are now offering our customers not only an excellent car at an attractive and fixed price for years, at a time of uncertainty about global oil prices, but also an extensive and unprecedented service network in the Israeli vehicle world."
