Ceragon wins 2 follow-on African contracts for $28m

CEO Ira Palti: Africa is a key region for us and will continue to represent one of our primary growth engines.

Ceragon Networks Ltd. (Nasdaq: CRNT; TASE:CRNT) has won two follow-on long-term equipment and services orders for its wireless backhaul solutions in Africa worth $28 million altogether. The company did not disclose the customers or the countries involved.

Today's orders follows a $6.5 million follow-on order last week from Mozambique Cellular to expand its microwave network, first established in 2010, from Beira in central Mozambique to Nampula in the north.

Ceragon cites a report commissioned by the GSMA, which states that sub-Saharan Africa is the fastest-growing mobile market in the world, with an average annual growth rate of 44% since 2000. There are 475 million mobile connections in the region, compared with 12.3 million fixed line connections, the highest proportion of mobile versus fixed line connections in the world.

Ceragon president and CEO Ira Palti said, "Africa is a key region for us and will continue to represent one of our primary growth engines. The mobile market in Africa continues to expand, despite lengthening sales cycles due to macroeconomic factors."
