Rami Levy to sell cheap smartphones

The low-cost retailer will now undersell its rivals for iPhones, Galaxy S3, and other smartphones.

Rami Levy Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI) will sell smartphones on its website for less than the industry. Until now, the supermarket chain's mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), Rami Levy Communications, had only a very limited selections of models.

Rami Levy will sell the 16 gigabyte version of the iPhone 5 for NIS 3,200, compared with the asking price of NIS 3,850 by Orange franchisee Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR), and NIS 3,490 asked by retailer Ivory Computers Ltd.

Rami Levy will also sell Taiwanese HTC Corporation's (TWSE: 2498) S1 for NIS 1,800, compared with NIS 2,700 at the importer Touch Group. It will offer Sony Corporation's (NYSE: SNE; TSE: 6758) Xperia Z for NIS 3,350 compared with Partner's asking price of NIS 3,600. It will offer the Galaxy S3, made by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (KSX: 5930; LSE: SMSN), for NIS 2,140, compared with the asking price of NIS 3,100 by Samsung importer Suny Electronics Ltd. (TASE: SUNY) and NIS 2,300 at retailer Bug
