Israel Aerospace Industries signs foreign deals worth $100m

The contracts include a $30 million contract to upgrade a special mission aircraft, and two contracts to supply maritime patrol radar, worth $32 million.

Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI) (TASE: ARSP.B1) has signed new foreign contracts worth $100 million. The contracts include a $30 million contract to upgrade a special mission aircraft with the company's ELL-8232 electronic support measure/electronic intelligence (ESM/ELINT) system for tactical and strategic missions; two contracts to supply maritime patrol radar, worth $32 million; and communication intelligence systems.

The ELM-2022 maritime patrol radar, developed by subsidiary Elta Systems Ltd., is in service in 25 countries, and operated on a range of aircraft, including the P-3 Orion, Bombardier Dash-8, Airbus Military C-295 and C-235, and Dornier 228, Eurocopter AS-365 Panther, and IAI Heron UAV. The company added that a multi-role persistent surveillance radar system, based on the ELM-2022, was recently delivered for use by a tethered aerostat system (blimp) to detect low flying and surface targets at the radar's maximum range by mitigating curvature of the earth and terrain masking limitations.

At this week's 50th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, IAI will unveil its Taxibot, a pilot-controlled robotic vehicle to tow airplanes from the airport gate to the runway. IAI will also unveil its new generation of compact 3D high-frequency direction finder system for various platforms, including the Heron.

IAI will also present new capabilities, which form part of its new "Total Solutions" concept. These "Total Solutions" are based on IAI's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) systems, advanced command and control systems with sophisticated networks, and integrated active defense missiles and precision strike weapon systems.

IAI president and CEO Joseph Weiss said, "To confront today's threats, a comprehensive solution is needed, combining platforms, sensors, weapons and command & control systems. Our 'Total Solutions' concept enables our customers to know everything that happens immediately and precisely so they can make the right decisions and act effectively."

IAI will display the Barak-8 air and missile defense system, multi-mission radar systems, the Harop loitering munitions system, precision-guided weapon systems and electro-optical sensors.
