Yad Vashem - World Center for Holocaust Research, Documentation, Education and Commemoration has made fourth place in TripAdvisor's Travelers Choice 2013 list of the 25 best museums in the world. It was also listed first of 146 recommended attractions in Jerusalem.
The quote on TripAdvisor's listing says, "Not an easy place to visit, but I cannot think of any place more important to go. Everyone should go to see how plain and common the faces of evil were."
TripAdvisor also awarded Yad Vashem the prize in 2013 for attractions with consistent exceptional reviews by visitors, and which kept their four-star or higher rating (out of five stars) by visitors.
Two other Holocaust museums made the list: the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum in Poland was ranked 10th, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC was ranked 16th.
Yad Vashem has one million visitors a year, most of them tourists. It recently opened a new exhibit, "I Am My Brother's Keeper - Marking 50 Years of Honoring Righteous Among the Nations."
