Web security co Foresight raises $4m

Foresight will use the proceeds to expand its global operations and gain a foothold in new markets, especially in Europe and the US.

Web security company Foresight Ltd. has raised $4 million from Israel's Cedar Fund and Magma Venture Partners. The company is developing a next-generation web application firewall (WAF) to protect sites from cyber and zero day attacks.

Foresight will use the proceeds to expand its global operations and gain a foothold in new markets, especially in Europe and the US.

Foresights co-CEOs Nimrod Lurie and Israel Ragutski founded the company in 2011.

In a statement, Lurie and Ragutski said, "The system's uniqueness lies in its ability to guarantee a much higher level of protection than all alternatives in the market against known and previously unknown patterns of attacks (zero day attacks) that almost automatically target complex and frequently attacked systems and websites."
