41% of Israelis surveyed say the government should invest gas royalties in education.
41% of the Israeli public say that the government should invest natural gas royalties in education, according to a survey by Geocartography Knowledge. 24% of the public say that the money should be invested in welfare, 21% in health, 10% in defense, and 4% in the environment.
The survey, conducted ahead of the Environment 2050 Conference on March 18 in Tel Aviv, found that half of the public is confident in the government and prefers that it should manage the royalties in the coming years. A third of the respondents said that an independent fund should manage the royalties. The survey also found that two-thirds of the public oppose expanding natural gas drilling at the expense of damage to environment.
