Yahoo acquires video-streaming co RayV

Yahoo: Most of the RayV team will join Yahoo's R&D team based in Tel Aviv.

Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO) has acquired Israeli video-streaming start-up RayV. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

In its announcement Yahoo said that, "Most of the RayV team will join Yahoo's research and development team based in Tel Aviv."

In a blog Yahoo VP Cloud Platforms and Devices P.P.S Narayan wrote about RayV's "compelling technology that enables improved high quality streaming for online and mobile content partners."

Founded in 2006, RayV has developed software to improve high-definition video streaming over the web and to mobile devices. Its software suite, launched in 2012, includes a content-distribution network, a content-management system and digital-rights management.

RayV has raised more than $40 million from investors including Accel Partners, Argoquest Holdings LLC, Accrue Sports and Entertainment Ventures, Dragon Ventures and Metamorphic Ventures.
