Tue: TASE stays strong

Leading stock Bank Hapoalim fell today, but there were notable rises for Teva, Tower and Perrigo.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.37%, to 1,398.02 points; the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.31%, to 1,256.81 points; and the BlueTech Index rose 0.16%, to 316.43 points. The TelBond20 corporate bond index rose 0.17%, to 321.48 points. Turnover totaled NIS 1.03 billion. The rise in Tel Aviv is in line with the trend on European bourses today and in early trading on Wall Street.

In the foreign exchange market, the representative shekel-dollar rate fell 0.088%, to NIS 3.418/$, and the shekel-euro rate fell 0.296%, to NIS 4.6095/€.

Today's most heavily traded stock, Bank Hapoalim, actually fell, by 0.2%, although the other major bank, Leumi, rose 0.52%.

Teva rose 0.97%, and two stocks that rose strongly last week, Tower Semiconductor and Perrigo (the latter after a "Globes" report that the company was for sale), returned to winning ways today. Tower rose 2.36%, and Perrigo 0.67%.

Airline El Al, which issued a revenue warning yesterday evening because of the security situation, closed 3.71% off.

Among small cap stocks, Scailex, which has shot up in recent days, put on another 55.6% today.
