The layoffs are reportedly due to the cancellation of the deal with Target.

Retail software service provider Retalix Ltd. has begun mass layoffs with 100-150 employees expected to be fired at its Ra’anana office. NCR unit Retalix employs 1,000 workers. The layoffs are probably due to the cancellation of the Retalix deal with US retailer Target, which was not satisfied with the company’s product, which it had installed in its Canadian office.

Retalix makes software for food chains, gas stations, pharmacies, and department stores, and provides inventory tracking and self-checkout software. Retalix offers computer-based software for checkout, all the way up to supply-chain management. Company headquarters are based in Ra’anana, Israel, and the company’s North American headquarters are in Dallas, Texas.

The company’s customer list includes 500 retail chains worldwide, including Carrefour in France and Italy, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons in the UK, Wallgreens and Publix in the US, Woolworths and Kohls in Australia, and BP in various countries around the world. Among the company’s Israeli customers are Shufersal Ltd. (TASE:SAE), Alon Holdings Blue Square - Israel Ltd. (NYSE: BSI; TASE: BSI), Hamashbir 365 Holdings Ltd. (TASE:MSAH), Steimatzky Group, Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL), and Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG).

In 2013, US based NCR completed its acquisition of Retalix for $800 million. In 2009, Retalix management changed, after FIMI Opportunity Funds and Alpha Group - five Amdocs Ltd. (Nasdaq: DOX) founding members, including Eli Gelman, Avi Naor, Boaz Dotan, Nechemia Lemelbaum, and Mario Segal - bought shares in the company, and replaced Barry Shaked and Brian Cooper, who founded Retalix in 1982.

NCR said, “As a matter of policy, we do not comment on rumor or speculation."
