Korean Air operates three weekly flights between Seoul and Tel Aviv.
Korean Air has cancelled all flights to and from Israel until August 28 because of the security situation in Israel. The South Korean company told travel agents it is working to find solutions for passengers already booked in its three weekly flights between Tel Aviv and Seoul.
Korean Air was the first foreign airline operating to and from Ben Gurion Airport that decided to stop Israel flights because of Operation Protective Edge. Its decision to do so on July 20 came several days before the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) decision to halt flights to and from Israel which stopped most foreign carriers from landing at Ben Gurion Airport. But the FAA rescinded its decision 36 hours later and since then most airlines have returned to Israel.
Sources in the aviation industry say that Korean Air has been deterred from renewing flights due to the wave of cancellations and lower revenue on Israel flights due to the security situation, which is hitting many other airlines.
