TASE falls but up 1.8% for week

The big two banks rose strongly today; Africa-Israel, which released financials, was a notable decliner.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange fell today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index fell 0.29%, to 1,404.21 points; the Tel Aviv 100 Index fell 0.27%, to 1,264.48 points; and the BlueTech Index fell 0.48%, to 313.13 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index rose 0.22%, to 326.15 points. Turnover totaled NIS 1.86 billion.

The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 1.8% over the week, and is up 5.6% year-to-date.

On the foreign exchange market, the representative shekel-dollar rate fell 0.308%, to NIS 3.56/$, and the shekel-euro rate fell 0.325%, to NIS 4.6939/€.

Bank Leumi was today's most heavily traded stock, rising 0.5%. Bank Hapoalim also rose strongly, by 1.1%. Teva, which announced a recall of its Parkinson's treatment carbidopa, fell 0.8%, and Bezeq rose 0.78%.

Africa-Israel, which reported second quarter results today showing a NIS 55 million net loss and a NIS 213 million write down of the fair value of its real estate assets, fell 3.44%.
