From Monday post offices will refuse to process fines.

Israel Postal Authority employees are escalating their sanctions and will refuse to process fines for the Courts, Israel Police, and local authorities. The Postal Authority employees will also continue striking services to government ministries and offices.

At the end of last week Post Office employees organized a huge rally in Tel Aviv with thousands of protestors attending to show solidarity with Postal Authority workers. Meanwhile, the Histadrut General Federation of Labor is threatening that if a solution is not soon found, then the struggle will be expanded to include all public sector employees.

Chairman of the Postal Authority Workers Committee Shimon Farjun said this evening, "I'm again calling on the Finance Minister to behave responsibly and sit down with the head of the Histadrut to find a solution to this crisis. The minister cannot remain indifferent to the cries of 1,500 families about to be thrown onto the streets. We won't let them replace thousands of good employees with workers on temporary contracts."
