Wed: Mobile carriers lead TASE to new record

Partner and Cellcom rose strongly and Azrieli had the largest rise on the Tel Aviv 25.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today to a new record. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.52% to 1,439.03 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.71% to 1,294.46 points, and the BlueTech 50 Index rose 0.86% to 317.35 points. Turnover was NIS 1.17 billion.

The TASE rose despite falls on European markets although there were rises at the opening on Wall Street.

In the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative exchange rate at NIS 3.649/$, up 0.22% on yesterday's rate, and set the shekel-euro representative exchange rate at NIS 4.728/€, up 0.303%.

In the bond market, both long-term Shahar unlinked shekel government bonds and long term Galil CPI-linked government bonds rose. The corporate bond benchmark Tel-Bond 20 Index rose 0.08%.

In the stock market, mobile operators Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) and Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) led the gains rising 2.27% and 1.17% respectively. Azrieli Group Ltd. (TASE: AZRG) rose 3.29% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 25 Index.

Perrigo Company (NYSE:PRGO; TASE:PRGO) rose 1.34% and Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) slipped 0.05% on the day's largest trading turnover.

Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) fell 0.97% for the biggest fall on the Tel Aviv 25 Index but Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 1.07% and Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS) rose 1.35%.
