Tel Aviv bicycle rental initiative Tel-O-Fun, which on regular days limits free rentals to half an hour, will allow unlimited free rentals on Yom Kippur.
The special offer will go into effect on Friday, the eve of Yom Kippur, at 11:00 am, and will be valid until 1:00 am Sunday morning.
The offer is only for subscribers with annual memberships - in other words, primarily Tel Aviv residents. Occasional users who do not have an annual membership will be charged the regular rate.
The savings are significant, considering the standard rates. Under normal circumstances, using Tel-O-Fun bicycles for more than 30 minutes (the first 30 minutes are included in the subscription fee) costs NIS 5 for the first hour, NIS 10 total for up to 90 minutes, NIS 30 for up to 2.5 hours, NIS 70 for up to 3.5 hours, NIS 150 up to 4.5 hours, and NIS 100 extra for each subsequent additional hour, up to 24 hours.
This coming weekend, when Yom Kippur falls, annual subscribers will be able to use bicycles for free for 38 consecutive hours without paying a thing.
Sources inform ''Globes'' that the bicycle-rental initiative will add 400 more bikes to its Tel-O-Fun fleet in October. The new bicycles are made by a new manufacturer, to whom the company turned after the German manufacturer who previously supplied the Tel-O-Fun bicycles went bankrupt six months ago. The new model is improved (see photo), and allows for seat height to be adjusted, and more.
