Office high-rise approved in Jerusalem's Givat Shaul

The new building, owned by Berman bakery, will have 22,500 sq.m. of space on 18 floors.

The Jerusalem Local Planning and Building Commission today approved a plan for the construction of an 18-storey office high-rise in the Givat Shaul industrial zone. The plan, will now move to the District Planning and Building Commission. The landowners, the owners of Berman Bakery, which currently occupies a two-story building, developed the plan.

The plan, which concerns a three-dunam (0.75-acre) site on Beit Hadfus St. in Jerusalem, includes three parking floors, commercial space, light industry, handicrafts, storage, and wedding halls. The plan involves 22,515 sq.m. in total built-up space, of which 11,870 sq.m. is main space and 10,644 sq.m. is service space.

As part of the approved plan, 500 sq.m. of the building will be allocated for public and community welfare. The Yigal Levi architectural firm designed the building.

The Jerusalem municipality said, "Approval of construction of the Berman Bakery tower is part of the mayor and municipality's policy of promoting and encouraging the establishment of new enterprises in Jerusalem in order to leverage economic growth and create new jobs in the capital."
