Former Ramat Gan Mayor convicted of bribery

Zvi Bar was found guilty of accepting bribes worth about NIS 2 million.

Former Ramat Gan Mayor Zvi Bar was found guilty this morning in the Tel Aviv District Court by Judge Zvi Garfinkel of taking a NIS 2 million bribe from real estate developers.

The indictment had been brought against 80-year old Bar and three developers in January 2013. Bar was Ramat Gan Mayor for nearly 24 years. He was charged with several counts of taking bribes, breach of trust, fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, and obstructing the trial.

Shaul Lagziel, one of the three developers, was found guilty of giving bribes.
