CyberGym signs NIS 45m Portuguese deal

Israel Electric Corp.'s CyberGym will build a cyber-defense facility for Energias de Portugal.

CyberGym, jointly owned by Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) and Liacom Systems Ltd., has signed a deal with the Portuguese electricity company Energias de Portugal (EDP) to plan, build, and maintain a cyber-defense training facility. The facility will be launched at the end of this year in Lisbon. The deal is estimated at NIS 45 million.

Cyber threats are one of the central concerns that countries and companies face today. Leading global cyber-security company McAfee estimates annual damage from cyber threats totals $445 billion. Today, it is understood that it will never be possible to prevent these attacks, and therefore countries and companies make arrangements for early detection to minimize the damage of these attacks.

CyberGym is a training and simulation center that makes it possible to prepare for cyber-attacks. The device has been operating for more than a year at the IEC training center in Hefziba, and serves a broad range of clients in Israel and around the world, in multiple sectors, including energy, finance, and IT, among others.

The deal in Portugal includes duplicating the cyber-arena, technology, training, and providing the tools, experience, and knowhow of top CyberGym cyber-defense experts.

. IEC chairman Yiftah Ron-Tal said, “IEC’s CyberGym training arena trains organizations and companies to protect themselves against cyber-threats in the most successful manner, with no geographical borders, no time limitations, and no technological gaps, and I am proud that IEC is a partner in this innovative, groundbreaking initiative.”

IEC president and CEO Eli Glickman said, “The CyberGym arena is an example of a growth engine and international business entrepreneurship that through IEC’s knowledge and assets makes it possible to create new growth sources and revenue.”

CyberGym CEO Ofir Hason said, “Since last year, when foreign companies came to train at CyberGym for the first time, the company continues realizing its vision, establishing a global network for cyber-defense training that will serve the critical infrastructures in the world, and the general public.
