The program is aimed at increasing the number of Israeli teachers in computer science and cyber security.

Lockeed Martin and the Ministry of Education will cooperate in an enrichment program for cyber security studies in the Israeli education system. This cooperation, which was initiated by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last year, will include cyber experts from Lockheed Martin and the University of Maryland in the US. The program is aimed at increasing the number of Israeli teachers in computer science and cyber security. The National Cyber Bureau in the Prime Minister's Office is also expected to provide advice for the program.

"Israelis attach great importance to technology and innovation, and in order to protect them, high trained and knowledgeable technology personnel are needed," said Lockheed Martin Israel CEO Joshua Shani. Lockheed Martin also announced that it would sponsor a computer and cyber competition expected to take place in Israel for the first time one month from now. Science and software engineering students from 70 high schools around Israel are expected to participate in the national competition on the Skillz multi-player competition platform. The contestants will be advised by mentors from the universities and local high-tech industry.

Lockheed Martin, considered the world's largest arms corporation, has increased its activity in Israel in recent years, among other things following the procurement by the Israel air force of dozens of Lockheed Martin F-35 stealth warplanes. The company has opened offices in the Beersheva knowledge-intensive industrial park, and is still in the process of recruiting personnel.

The Cybertech international cyber conference opened today in the Tel Aviv fairgrounds, with 100 Israeli startups presenting their cyber developments there. Former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, who is chairing the Rashi Foundation, appeared at the conference in a session dealing with the future generation that will work in the cyber sector. The Rashi Fund is joining the IDF, Mifal Hapayis (the Israel National Lottery), the Prime Minister's Office, and other entities in the Magshimim program aimed at outstanding young people from outlying areas. The program is designed to enable them to join IDF and Ministry of Defense cyber units in the future.
