"Globes" selects some of Israel's April Fools’ Day antics this year.

April Fools’ Day might not be an official holiday in Israel, but it seems Israel’s Internet and technology companies, and global ones, won’t pass on an opportunity to get a little silly and have some fun with their users. In honor of the international joke day, “Globes” collected some of the day’s noteworthy practical jokes.

Instant Camel

After last year’s GetCruise, the only service in the world to make it possible to order a cruise ship at the touch of a button, this year, GetTaxi is offering a dedicated service in time for the Passover holiday - camel-back tours at the touch of a button. To this end, the company has updated its app and launched GetCamel. With the new service, and in partnership with the National Desert Institute, starting tomorrow, it will be possible to order camel tours in Israel’s Negev desert. It will be interesting to see if the company offers premium, or other special camel services.

An X-rated business model

Until today, Israeli start-up veed.me offered a platform for start-ups and brands to create videos, by connecting them with video producers around the world. But the start-up realized that without a real business model, it would not succeed in making enough money. The company decided to change direction, and has developed a new platform, which makes it possible for start-ups and brands to create “branded erotic films.” The idea is to integrate adult-film actors in the promotional videos, which will not only increase the company’s revenue, but will also increase views.

Elgoog

Google has decided to mix things up a bit, and has launched a backwards search engine in honor of the day.

PAC-MAN maps

It seems Google worked overtime on April Fools’ Day projects, as it does every year, and in addition to the backwards search engine, the company has added a PAC-MAN feature to Google Maps, with which you can play PAC-MAN in your own neighborhood. To try it out, just go to Google Maps on your PC (there is limited access on mobile devices), select the PAC-MAN icon on the bottom-left of the screen, and begin playing (if you don't see the icon, try maximizing your browser window). Just be careful not to get stuck in traffic…
