The Check Point CEO said there is growing awareness of the seriousness of cyber crime threats.

In recent years, awareness has grown for the need for protection against cyber attacks as reflected by well-publicized attacks against major companies and government bodies. Only this week two Israeli hackers and their US associates were arrested under suspicion of a huge cyber crime against JPMorgan Chase and millions of its customers.

Israel IT protection company Check Point Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP) is benefitting from this growing awareness as seen in its latest financial results which saw record revenue of $395 million in the second quarter, up 9% from the corresponding quarter last year, and $162.6 million profit.

Check Point co-founder, CEO and chairman Gil Shwed said, "There is understanding that what is happening in this field is not what people once thought children that want to prove themselves but real global organized crime, and countries understand that cyber security is part of national security. There is a great deal of interest by governments in building infrastructures to protect at the national level but I think it will take years."

Shwed said that all Fortune 100 companies are Check point customers. He added, "We want our security solutions to be everywhere. A relatively new field is mobile and Check Point recently acquired Lacoon, which operates in this field. These devices are with us the entire day, hear and see what we are doing and nobody knows what they are passing on if there is a breached app."
