Israel Airports Authority staff will hold a 2 hour solidarity strike for Broadcasting Authority employees threatened by layoffs.

The Israel Airports Authority workers committee will hold a two hour strike at Ben Gurion airport on Sunday morning between 10 am and midday. Flights to and from the airport will be halted by the workers in an act of solidarity with Israel Broadcasting Authority employees who are threatened with layoffs.

Workers committee chairman Pinchas Idan said, "It should not be possible that the government can unilaterally and through legislation erase public broadcasting and fire 1,500 employees. It's a black day for all those involved in labor relations. It's possible to implement reforms, recoveries and changes but through dialogue, not in this way!"

He added, "I call on all workers committees to demonstrate solidarity with the Israel Broadcasting Authority employees in their struggle which is being led by the Histadrut. I call on the legislation to be halted and dialogue begun. Today the Broadcasting Authority. Tomorrow all of us."
