Danya Cebus, China Civil win Tel Aviv tunneling tender

The companies will build two 3.5 kilometers tunnels and three underground stations in the eastern segment.

Danya Cebus Ltd. (TASE: DNYA) and China Civil have won the tender for constructing underground stations and digging tunnels in the eastern segment of the Tel Aviv Light Rail project.

The eastern segment includes the construction of three underground stations (Aharonovitz, Ben Gurion, and Em Hamoshavot), two 3.5-kilometer parallel tunnels (digging using TBM machines) from the depot portal to the Ben Gurion station, from the Shenkar portal to two connecting passageways west of the Geha Junction, and another 370-meter connecting tunnel from the Shenkar portal to the Em Hamoshavot station (using the NATM method).

Two other groups competed in the tender: Shapir Civil and Marine Engineering Ltd.-Gala Infrastructure and Electra Ltd. (TASE: ELTR)-Minrav Holdings Ltd. (TASE: MNRV)-Vianini Lavori. NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. CEO Yehuda Bar-On said, "We are continuing to meet the timetables we set for ourselves up until now in order to put the Red Line into operation ahead of schedule. Construction of the delivery shafts for the TBM machines has been completed, and preliminary work on the eastern segment of the Red Line will begin in the coming weeks. Next week, we will be in a situation in which work will be carried out on all the underground stations of the western segment, while at the same time, we are continuing construction of the depot portal, the Shenkar portal, and the depot in Petah Tikva."

In addition, next Thursday, digging and construction work will begin on the Shaul Hamelech underground station in Tel Aviv. This work follows preliminary work carried out in the vicinity of the station in recent weeks.
