SVP Yutaka Ito says 20,000 Israelis flew to Japan in the last year; the airline will fly to Tokyo through six European cities.

ANA Senior Vice President Yutaka Ito is currently in Israel to reinforce the company’s ties with the country. According to market estimates, some 20,000 Israelis flew to Japan within the last year - with half traveling for business and the other half for pleasure.

That figure, claimed Ito, has been growing annually, which paved the way for establishing a local office in Israel and investing in marketing focusing mainly on Israeli tourists - and less on bringing Japanese tourists to Israel.

All Nippon Airways, the largest Japanese airline, was founded in 1952 and commands a fleet of 246 planes flying to 112 domestic destinations and 80 international cities.

Last month, ANA tickets went on sale for Israelis, with connections through 6 European cities: London, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, and Brussels.

A direct flight from Tel Aviv to Tokyo is not yet on the horizion, but Ito did not dismiss the possibility, though he thought it would not “be in the foreseeable future.”
