Wed: TASE slump checked

Bank Hapoalim and Teva led the Tel Aviv 25 Index higher today but Israel Chemicals declined.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) rose today. The Tel Aviv 25 Index rose 0.32% to 1,422.29 points, the Tel Aviv 100 Index rose 0.35%, to 1,215.46 points but the BlueTech Index fell 0.08% to 283.26 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index fell 0.08% to 305.36 points. Turnover totaled NIS 1.11 billion.

On the foreign exchange market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative rate down 0.412% from yesterday's rate at NIS 3.871/$, and the representative shekel-euro rate down 0.121% at NIS 4.358/€.

On the market, the banks rose today. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 2.32% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 25 Index. Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 0.16%, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) rose 1.28%, and Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 1.39%.

Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 2.04% on the day's biggest trading turnover and Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) rose 1.09%.

NICE Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: NICE; TASE: NICE) fell 1.61% for the biggest fall on the Tel Aviv 25 index today and Strauss Group Ltd. (TASE:STRS) fell 1.54%.

Israel Chemicals (TASE: ICL: NYSE: ICL) fell 1.47% and parent company Israel Corporation (TASE: ILCO) fell 1.59%.
