Africa Israel's main Romanian property is the NIS 1.9-billion AFI Cotroceni Palace Mall.

Is Africa Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE:AFIL) about to sell some of its properties in Romania? Sources inform "Globes" that senior executives in shopping malls company Melisron Ltd. (TASE: MLSR), controlled by Liora Ofer, recently visited the Romanian properties of Africa Israel Investments subsidiary Africa Israel Properties Ltd. (TASE: AFPR). As far as is known, as of now, no negotiations for any deal whatsoever are taking place between the companies, but it cannot be ruled out that such contacts will occur in the future. Africa-Israel's main property in Romania is the AFI Cotroceni Palace Mall, listed in the company books at a value of NIS 1.9 billion.

Melisron's possibilities for expansion in Israel are currently limited, due to the relative saturation in the domestic market and Melisron's leading position there. Expansion to less saturated markets is therefore an interesting possibility for the company. Melisron, which has a NIS 5.65 billion market cap, and the Africa Israel group declined to comment on the report.

Africa Israel Properties and Melisron cooperated and won a tender for leasing Lot 7, with 13,000 sq.m., in the Hakirya (government) complex in Tel Aviv for NIS 536 million. The two companies plan to construct office space on the site, and will own the project in equal shares.
