Delivery division president Tammy Mintz insists that no measures involving layoffs are involved.

Amdocs Ltd. (Nasdaq: DOX) is considering organizational changes in one of its major divisions, a measure that is already arousing concern among company employees about possible layoffs. The division involved, the delivery division, is responsible for installing systems and customer relations. The company is considering basing the division's work on geographic regions, instead of production lines. It cannot be ruled out, however, that a more comprehensive organizational change in the company will take place later.

Managed by CEO Eli Gelman, Amdocs provides IT solutions and systems to communications companies, and has an $8.7 billion market cap. Its delivery division has 5,000 employees, a third of whom are in Israel.

A report in the "Calcalist" newspaper about the measure and the possibility that it will result in layoffs led delivery division president Tammy Mintz to send a letter today to the division employees, in which she wrote, "The measure is at the stage of initial consideration, and no decision about its implementation has been made. In any case, no measures involving layoffs are involved." Mintz added that ideas for changes and improvement in work methods were being considered by joint teams of employees and managers. "Unfortunately, it appears that those behind the reports are outsider elements willing to stoop to any means in order to achieve their aim by spreading fear among the company employees," Mintz wrote to the workers.

Amdocs employees recently organized under Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) auspices, and also declared a work dispute, while management refused to recognize the workers' committee as the employee's representative. Amdocs has 4,700 employees in Ra'anana, Haifa, Sderot, and Nazareth, out of nearly 25,000 workers worldwide.
