Riverbed acquires Israeli SaaS co Aternity for $70m

Riverbed Technology has acquired Israeli SaaS company Aternity. No financial details were disclosed but San Francisco based Riverbed, which specializes in application performance products, is believed to be paying $60-70 million.

Founded in 2004 by Amnon Yacoby, Amir Eldad, Eden Shohat and Orit Kapon, Aternity was chosen as one of "Globes" most promising startups in 2008. The company has developed end-user experience monitoring tools. Aternity is headquartered near Boston in Westborough, Massachusetts and maintains its development center at Hod Hasharon. The company has raised $25 million to date and investors include Genesis Partners, Vertex Venture Capital and Intel Capital.

Riverbed chairman and CEO Jerry M. Kennelly said, “Aternity is another exciting and strategic acquisition for Riverbed. Their innovative end user experience monitoring offering perfectly complements and extends our SteelCentral solutions. With the increased use of mobile devices, virtual desktop environments and the cloud, the ability to manage end user experience has become more important and complex for IT organizations.
