Brussels Airlines denies taking Achva halva off its menu following a complaint that it was made in the West Bank.

Brussels Airlines has denied reports that it has removed halva sesame snacks from its flight menu following complaints from a BDS supporting passenger because the item was made by Achva in the Barkan Industrial Zone, which is on land in the West Bank captured from Jordan in 1967.

An initial official statement reported in "YNet" from the Belgian airline said, "We’re an airline catering to a large international audience, it’s our responsibility to offer products that please all. Therefore, we decided to take the halva bars off the menu and replace it with another product.”

But after uproar in Israel led by Minister of Tourism Yariv Levin who said that Brussels Airlines should be stopped from flying to Israel, the carrier clarified its position. Spokesperson Kim Daenen told the "Times of Israel" "We are invested in Israel and it's not at all in our best interest to participate in a boycott. Brussels Airlines has been flying to Israel for 13 years and we are very loyal to this country. It's an important market for us."
