US President Barack Obama and Pope Francis are expected to head a huge delegation attending Shimon Peres's funeral in Jerusalem on Friday.
Israel's police and security services are gearing up for a huge operation ahead of Friday's funeral of former president and prime minister Shimon Peres, who will be buried on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem on Friday. Peres, 93, died early this morning at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer near Tel Aviv after suffering a massive stroke two weeks ago.
Many of the world's leaders are expected to attend the funeral including US president Barack Obama, Pope Francis, French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister Theresa May.
The Prime Minister's office is arranging for Peres's coffin to be brought to the Knesset before the funeral so that the Israeli public will be able to pay their last respects.
