Former Supervisor of Banks Hizkiyahu is currently chairman of First International Bank.

Minister of Finance Moshe Kahlon has decided to appoint Rony Hizkiyahu as Israel's next Accountant General. The Civil Service Commission has approved the appointment, and Kahlon will present it for approval by the government after approval by the committee for the appointment of senior civil servants.

"Globes" revealed that Hizkiyahu does not meet the threshold conditions for the position of Accountant General, as these include a first degree in economics, business management or accounting. Hizkiyahu's first degree is in industrial engineering and management from Ben Gurion University of the Negev. Nevertheless, the Civil Service Commission approved the appointment.

Hizkiyahu was Supervisor of Banks at the Bank of Israel during the financial crisis of 2008 and coped with considerable success with its consequences, preserving the stability and strength of the Israeli banking system.

Since 2012, Hizkiyahu has served as chairman of First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN). He brings to the post of Accountant General vast experience in both the public and private sectors, and his recruitment to the Ministry of Finance will assist greatly in strengthening Israel's economy and in continuing responsible debt management policy and preserving the country's high credit rating.

After his appointment is approved by the government, Hizkiyahu will begin an orderly handover process with outgoing Accountant General Michal Abadi-Boiangiu.
