Minister of Finance director general Shai Babad and State Employees Union chairman Ariel Ya'acobi have agreed on accelerated negotiations.

Employees at the Israel Tax Authority have ended their sanctions. Minister of Finance director general Shai Babad and State Employees Union chairman Ariel Ya'acobi today agreed that the sanctions would stop, and that accelerated negotiations would begin aimed at reaching an agreement by the end of the year.

Following the understanding, the employees will resume their regular work, and all Tax Authority branches and units will provide service. Regular work in the land tax units, municipal tax assessment offices, and the Bailiff Office will also resume.

Babad welcomed the agreement, saying, "I am glad that State Employees Union chairman Ariel Ya'acobi has shown responsibility and understands that Israeli citizens should not pay the price of a shutdown, and has halted the sanctions immediately. We are commencing intensive negotiations with the workers in order to facilitate continuous service by the Tax Authority, especially at this time of the year."
