The passengers were taken off the New York - Tel Aviv flight at 3:30 AM.

The stewards on a United Airlines flight from New York to Israel refused to go ahead with the flight after the doors were closed one half-second after the stipulated time. A passenger on the flight sent an e-mail to "Globes" saying that the flight, which had been scheduled to take off on 10:50 PM on Saturday night, had been canceled for unusual reasons.

The report to the passengers by United Airlines representatives stated that the flight had been canceled because "the crew refused to do its job after the doors to the plane were closed one half-second late."

The passenger wrote to "Globes," "After the passengers were put on board the plane, they were taken off at 3:30 AM and the flight was canceled because the stewards refused to work. The passengers had to wait in the airport. We were not taken to a hotel; in effect, they are forcing us to stay at the airport. According to the information given to us, an alternative flight to New York is scheduled to take off at 8:30 AM New York time. We're waiting here and hoping that it will take place."

United Airlines confirmed that the flight had been postponed.
