PapriCom Technologies Wins CommerceNet Award

The Netanya-based start-up provides a one-stop shopping service that alerts users of the availability of requested products in pre-defined price ranges.

Netanya-based start-up PapriCom Technologies received the CommerceNet New Innovator award last week in Palo Alto, California. PapriCom received the award for DealTime.com, a shopping service that alerts users of specific available deals.

CommerceNet is not-for-profit business development organization aimed at making electronic commerce easy, trusted, and ubiquitous. According to the award committee, DealTime was selected from a total of more than 100 e-commerce companies for "combining auction technology with intelligent agents and personalized communication".

DealTime.com is a personalized one stop shopping service. Consumers enter product selections and the prices they are willing to pay. The service then notifies them whenever such products become available on the Internet in a user-defined price range. DealTime scans a large number of Internet merchants, auction sites and classified ads in search of the information the user has requested.

Upon receiving the award, PapriCom CEO Dr. Nahum Sharfman said, "Our goal is to cover the highly dynamic, rapidly changing nature of e-commerce, where the advent of web based auctions, classifieds and closeout sales events create new opportunities for consumers to get better value."

Sharfman founded PapriCom in December, 1997 along with Amir Ashkenazi. The company's main investor is Israel Seed Partners of Jerusalem. PapriCom stated that it has already signed distribution agreements with two major Internet portals, and will announce details of those agreements in January.
