Mon: Banks lead strong TASE gains

The big banks, Elbit and Airport City led the market higher today as oil Refineries led the declines.

The Tel Aviv Stock Exchange rose today. The Tel Aviv 35 Index rose 1% to 1,439.54 points; the Tel Aviv 125 Index rose 0.91%, to 1,298.95 points; and the BlueTech Global Index rose 1.07% to 369.66 points. The TelBond 20 corporate bond index rose 0.04% to 333.97 points. Trading turnover was NIS 1.32 billion.

On the foreign currency market, the Bank of Israel set the shekel-dollar representative rate today down 0.198% at NIS 3.52/$ from Friday's rate and set the shekel-euro rate up 0.175% at 3.966/€.

On the market, Airport City Ltd. (TASE:ARPT) rose 4.51% for the biggest rise on the Tel Aviv 35 Index and Elbit Systems Ltd. (Nasdaq: ESLT; TASE: ESLT) rose 2.71%. Azrieli Group Ltd. (TASE: AZRG) rose 1.98% and Delek Group Ltd. (TASE: DLEKG) rose 1.85%. Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NYSE: TEVA; TASE: TEVA) rose 0.73%.

Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) rose 2.18%, Israel Discount Bank (TASE: DSCT) rose 2.37%, Mizrahi Tefahot Bank (TASE:MZTF) rose 2.13% and First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN) rose 2.07%. Bank Hapoalim (TASE: POLI) rose 0.67% on the day's biggest trading turnover.

Oil Refineries Ltd. (TASE:ORL) fell 3.46% for the biggest fall on the Tel Aviv 35 Index and Paz Oil Company Ltd. (TASE:PZOL) fell 0.86%.
