ABC has bought the format of "Israel" starring Israel Katorza from Dori Media.
US TV network ABC has bought for American production the format of Channel 10's sitcom series "Israel" starring Israel Katorza. The series will be produced in the US by Jamie Tarses and Sony Studios and the screenplay will be written by Matt Tarses, who previously wrote "The Goldbergs." Dori Media Group Ltd. (AIM:DMG) is distributing the format outside of Israel.
ABC will be hoping for better ratings than the "Rising Star" format which it bought from Keshet. Last week ABC's "Rising Star" was watched by just 2.93 million viewers, less than a million of whom were in the coveted 18-46 age group. Keshet sold "Rising Star" to many countries worldwide and future launches are likely to be adversely affected by the lukewarm welcome the show has received in the US.
